To the people I live with. Every. Single. Day.
First of all, thank you.
You’ve seen me at my best and most definitely at my worst. Those mornings when I wake up, hair askew, morning breath in full swing, pajamas still on and my eyes are caked shut. You’ve been there. Thank you for not taking a picture of that.
Please know that I love you, despite when I complain about how you leave the cabinets open or how you leave food on the counter (which is still gross, by the way).
That day when we moved in was a bonding day for both us and our families. Everyone was exhausted, running in and out of the living room with piles and piles of clothes, furniture, decorations... you name it. Once you’ve survived something like that together, it’s a bond that can’t be broken.
I know you borrow my clothes sometimes. It’s OK... just, ask me next time?
Thank you for staying up with me to the wee hours of the morning and going on a Waffle House, or Wal-Mart run when we need something sweet to snack on.
I’m sorry that sometimes I leave the TV turned up to a ridiculously loud volume when I’m watching my shows. Thanks for putting a smiley emoji at the end of the text where you’re telling me to shut up.
Thank you for putting up with all of my weird friends. In fairness, I put up with yours too. You know the ones I’m talking about.
Shout out to your parents for cooking us food and sending it or bringing it by for all of us to share. They’re the real MVPs.
Also, thanks for not getting in my way when I’m on my way to the coffee maker. We all know you don’t want to start that battle.
Thanks for not talking to me in the mornings, because you know I’m not fully awake.
I also really appreciate that food is your favorite thing just like mine. Because if you judged me for constantly eating, we couldn’t live together anymore.
When I get home from a ridiculously long day of work or school, those times when you let me sit and vent to you for hours on end about how everything is going wrong mean the world to me.
Thank you for leaving your door unlocked for me to come into your bedroom when I’m scared or need you. Or on a Saturday morning so I can come lay with you and sleep until noon.
Thanks for not eating my food, because once again, food is our favorite, and we have respect for each other’s money and food.
I love the fact that we can sit on the couch for hours and do homework, or literally just play on the computer and not say a single word to each other and be totally content.
I guess all in all, just thank you for living with me. You have, or are currently, made my life a lot better. I love the fact that living with someone you consider a best friend is a thing.
I know sometimes we want to pull each other’s hair out, but I appreciate you not murdering me in my sleep so far, and I look forward to many more days together.
