To My Dear Beloved Pup,
First things first, I love you with all my heart. You are perfect in so many ways. I will never forget the day we brought you home. It was the best day of my life. You were the cutest rescue dog I had ever seen. So small and shy, but within days you opened up and proved that you were just as goofy and sassy as the rest of the family. You were a perfect fit. Everyone that meets you falls in love instantly. I really don't think you understand the effect you have on people.
Waking up to you snuggling with me in bed might just be the best gift I could ever ask for. You help keep me warm on those cold winter nights and help get me through when the thunder is a little too loud, since you know thunder gets me frazzled. It's very odd when I'm at school and you're not there waiting for me after a long day. Just know there's no one I'd rather have in my bed than you.
You make coming home an event. I love driving past the bay window and seeing you sitting there patiently waiting for me to come home. Then when you see my car, you sprint to the door. The best part is when I enter the house and you start jumping on me. I can't help but melt and hold you while you try to calm down... which usually takes about five minutes.
Boring is not a word that describes you at all. You always keep us busy with your little shenanigans. You crave attention. If someone isn't paying attention to you, you change that immediately. Countless times you've destroyed the house, and I mean destroyed. No matter how mad we got, one look at you, and a smile would appear. Your little, innocent eyes always come up with the perfect apology.
I love your love for food. You're a savage. Once the fridge cracks open, those paws are sprinting instantly. Cooking wouldn't be the same without you following every step, praying that a crumb will fall at any second. You live for those seconds when we look away from our plates and you jump up and steal our food. Because of you, we have to have baby locks on all of the pantry doors. Good job.
Most of all, thank you for always being there for me when I need you and for loving me back no matter what. No one knows how to brighten my day the way you do. You listen to me without judgment, keep my secrets, and lick all my tears away. I know I can count on you for anything, just know you can always count on me too. You might be small, but you have the biggest heart I've ever seen. You are the most loving, funniest, and energetic dog I've ever had the honor of owning. Know that you are more than a dog; you are my family. I love you and always will. Always remember: You are perfect.
