Some siblings get along well and are best friends, but most of the time siblings fight like cats and dogs.
I want to thank my brother for being that kind of sibling. Would everyday life be interesting without the constant bickering of my brother and me? Would road trips really have been entertaining without the fight over what movie we would watch next, or who really won the game Concentration 64?
What would life be like without someone to quote movies with? Who else would you have to help you annoy your parents? Who else would you pretend the floor is lava with while hopping around your house standing on couch cushions, so you don’t touch the floor? Without my brother who would be there to get mad at, and threaten to never talk to again?
Without my brother, who would be there to keep me entertained when my friends can’t come over? The answer’s simple: No one.
I would have never had someone to tell me I was better and worth more than that boy told me I was. I would have no one to threaten to beat up any guy who made me cry. I would have no one to race to the car with in order to get the front seat first. I wouldn’t have that constant forever friend, who I know will never leave my side no matter how many fights or disagreements we have. I would have had no one to trick me into thinking alligators lived in our neighborhood sewers. I would have no one to share my love for "Harry Potter" with.
Most importantly, I would have no one to call my brother.
Through every fight, every tear, and every hug, my brother is someone who I will continue to fight with. I will continue to annoy to no end. And someone who will always own the other turtle dove. ("Home Alone 2" reference, anyone?)
Thank you to my brother for letting me be the little sister who always wanted to tag along with him and his friends. Thank you to my brother for irritating me to no end and making me think how lovely and peaceful it would be to be an only child. Thank you to my brother for telling me that I deserve better than any guy that broke my heart.
Lastly, thank you for being my brother and my forever friend.
I’m so thankful for you, even though most of the time I don’t show it or tell you. But know, now that we’ve moved to different places I miss you even more. When we hang out those moments remind me of how thankful I am to have you.
Forever,
Your movie quote partner and annoying little sister <3
