An Open Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend

I honestly miss you a lot.

An Open Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend

To My Long Distance Best Friend:

Today is just one of those days where I miss you more than usual. Living 1,051 miles apart from you isn't easy, to say the least. There are days when I want to just call you up and say, "Hey, let’s go to Starbucks!", but I can't, unless I get in my car and drive for sixteen straight hours. Today I realized that I never really get the chance to tell you how much you mean to me. So how about I do that today, okay?

Some people say long distance friendships are hard and maybe they're right. But here we are, two years after you moved away, and we're still the best friends that can talk for hours on end without running out of things to say. The truth is- being apart from you sucks. It breaks my heart when I can't be there to give you a hug when you're having a bad day. It's hard, when all I want to do is have a girl’s night with you, and you're not here. For all the hard times though, there have been so many good times, and there is so much I'm thankful for about you.

Thank you for knowing me better than I know myself sometimes. Thank you for always knowing what to say when I need advice. Thank you for being the listening ear when I need to vent. Thank you for being understanding when life gets busy and we don't talk for a couple of weeks. Thank you for picking up right where we left off. Thank you for listening to my awkward boy situations as if you were right next to me, and giving me advice. Thank you for showing me how to do the perfect messy bun. Thank you for teaching me your ways of loving makeup. Thank you for being an example of positivity, grace, and kindness, even in the craziest of times.

I guess what I'm trying to say, is that you are such an important part of my life, and I wouldn't want to go a day without you. Can't wait to see you soon!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
