Your first dog will always be special. They showed you how amazing animals are and helped you understand a new meaning of friendship. Whether they are still alive or have passed, always be grateful for the appreciation of life that you learned from your first dog.
Dear Lady Hoosier,
I am so blessed that I was able to grow up with you. Having you in my life for twelve years is one of the best gifts I have ever received. You were my first friend. From my toddler years till the beginning of high school, you were right by my side along the way. Those years wouldn't have been the same without you. You were more than just a pet, you were a family member to me.
Although I told you every day, I hope you truly know that you were the best dog ever. I have the greatest memories with you. Putting bows in your hair, laughing when I put sunglasses on you, using you as a pillow while watching T.V., and chasing you in the yard- those were some of the best times of my childhood. You were always up for anything and there are not many people I can say that about. Somehow you just automatically knew when I was upset and your kisses could cheer anyone up. The amount of thank you's I owe you is infinite. Thank you for sitting next to me during long car rides and for never judging me when I sang loudly off-tune around the house. Thanks for eating the orange part of the twisted cheese sticks for me when nobody was looking. Thank you for cuddling with me and keeping me company during sick days. Thanks for guarding the door when you knew I was scared to be home alone. Thank you for showing me how wonderful animals are. I am forever a dog lover because of you and that is one of the greatest things to be. Most of all, I want to thank you for showing me what true friendship is. Good mood or bad mood, you just wanted to be there for me and that's the most caring things anyone can do. You were kind to everyone and never hid your joy. As silly as it might seem, you are an ideal role model for anyone. You remind me to get happy about the little things and live in the moment.
When you got sick and passed away, just know it was one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. It's been years since you passed away, but I'll always miss coming home to you greeting me at the door with your tail wagging like crazy. The memories of my ripped mail and not being able to move because you fell asleep on my feet still put a smile across my face. Don't ever feel replaced by the other dogs or animals in my life. You and your freckles will never be forgotten. You'll always have a special place in my heart. I hope heaven is full of peanut butter and constant games of fetch because you deserve nothing but the best.
XOXO,
Your best pal
