Hey,
To many people you are just a cabin in the woods, but to me you are place that I call heaven on Earth. Though my best friend’s family owns you, I have written several reports on you since at least fourth grade, and you still make me as excited as I was the first time I saw you. The house itself is very small and making more than three families fit in is always a challenge, to say the least, but we make it work. Your small four walls hold so many memories for my friends and I since we have gotten older.
The countless games of football, kickball and soccer always make me happy because we are outside and enjoying each other’s company without the hassle of technology (except for those movie nights that we would have once in a while). All of my friends have learned to drive a four-wheeler on the property, and some of my friends have even had to learn to drive a car. Looking back on these memories I laugh because these are the stories that I can tell my kids when they get older and start to ask about my childhood. Also, anytime I can tell these stories I nearly fall onto the floor laughing because they are just too funny, and something that can only be shared between my friends and me.
Since there is nothing but land surrounding us for the most part, there have been countless dance parties in the tiny kitchen with more than one person usually making their way onto the kitchen table. The music that comes from that house is usually so loud that if there are people nearby, I begin to feel bad but not too bad because I am having too much fun. I am proud enough to say that I have made myself look like a total idiot and danced on the kitchen table at least once. I know my dancing skills are sub-par but that’s OK. It was fun, and that’s all that matters. Some of my favorite memories happened in front of a bonfire — roasting marshmallows, listening to countless stories and looking up into the night sky to see what constellations we can find and what signs of the zodiac we recognize.
On my most recent trip to see you, it was just my brother and me in the car with me in the driver's seat. To say I was totally freaked out by being in the driver's seat is an understatement because I am so used to sitting in the back seat and looking out the window. Now that I can drive, I felt like I had no idea where I was going since it was so new to me, but in actuality, I knew exactly where I was going. So in short, thank you for all of the great memories you have given me, and I cannot wait to make more.
Sincerely,
An Old friend
