Dear Mom,
I don’t tell you often enough how much I appreciate you.
You have been there for me every step of the way, through the good times and the bad. Holding my hand when I’m scared, wiping my tears when I’m sad, celebrating with me when I’m happy. You are my biggest cheerleader, always rooting for me no matter what. You are my role model and inspire me every day to become a better person. I hope that one day I can come close to being as wonderful of a person as you are.
I’ve never taken the time to tell you how much I appreciate all of the times that you’ve put me first and changed or cancelled your plans because I needed you. When I’m scared to death you are the only person who can convince me that it’s going to be okay. You go above and beyond for me and I know you’d change the world for me if that was possible.
And you still love me even when I snap at you. Even when I yell at you. Even when I’m a hysterical mess. I know you’ll still be there for me. Through your unconditional love you have given me a place where I feel 100% comfortable being myself, where I know that I can be whoever I want to be, where I can talk about anything. Thank you for being my safe place.
Even though I’m older now and I don’t need you as much, I just wanted to let you know how much everything you do means to me. You’re the one who is always there to laugh with me, to talk to me at any hour of the day or night, to support me in anything as long as it is going to make me happy. Friends come and go but I know that I can always count on you to be there for me.
So thank you for all the times you’ve come to my rescue. And I mean all of the times…from illustrating my 4th grade book report to answering the phone when I call you at some odd hour of the night to holding my hand through a panic attack. I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful person in my life.
Thank you for being the ultimate best friend.
Love,
Your grateful daughter
