Hey guys!
You knew the second you read the title of this article that it was about you, so don’t play coy. I met you guys halfway through my freshman year of college in a room that we would later refer to as home. To be honest, I do not remember when we went from being acquaintances in class to having a group chat which never stops dinging and eating every possible meal together. You guys are honestly one of the best parts of coming to school. High school friendships are great in their own way, but what I have with you guys is a second family.
You have been there for me on the countless nights we spent working in a classroom until 4 am on a paper that was due the next day. You have seen me cry and scream, and get so angry about things that my face goes red, and my voice gets incredibly high pitched, but you did not judge me. Instead you wiped my tears, and told me it would be okay. You held my hand, and got me back on my feet.
We were there for each other when we had finals coming up, and were running on nothing but coffee and willpower. And yet, somehow spending those all nighters with you guys meant laughing so hard my sides hurt, and knowing that no matter what happened it would all turn out to be okay. You took what I thought was my broken psyche and showed me that at the end of the day, I was unique, and I was worth something more than I ever thought possible.
Even being in four different states this summer didn’t keep us apart. There were countless texts and phonecalls. You always kept me updated on your life, like I kept you updated on mine. And then we made it back for our sophomore year, and although we’re all a little busier this semester, I know that no matter what happens, I come back to you guys for the love and support that only you can provide.
I guess this a thank you. This is me thanking you for being mothers, and sisters, and just being my rock when I wasn’t sure I was good enough. I can not be sure what next semester, or even the next few years have in store for us, but I know no matter what, you guys will do amazing things, and the second you do, my phone will light up with a million texts from our group chat. Never stop being you and never stop being a part of my life.
Sincerely,
Your grateful friend
