Since the first grade, you have been by my side and it seems crazy to think that we have been friends almost all of our lives. I remember meeting you in class and being the quiet ones who kept to themselves but somehow that brought us together, we were instant friends. We did everything together from eating lunch to playing on the playground, we were inseparable. We played pretend and dreamed of the future. We spent more time at each other’s houses more than our own and became a part of each other's families. We sat near each other in the third grade and had our first fight over a drawing of triangle dresses. It got to the point that we asked one of the boys that sat next to me whose was better and I was so angry when he picked yours, let’s be honest they were both pretty bad. I can laugh about that now but then I held a grudge. To this day, we laugh about it and how silly that fight was. We used to sit in a big recliner at your house, watch TV and eat, we never came to each other’s homes without a yummy treat! Sometimes it involved going to 7-11 to get a slushy and as we got older it became baking whatever box mix we could find in your house. It usually involved me getting something on the floor or even myself and you laughing at me, which still happens now. You brought me to your Aunt’s pool for many swims, good food, and laughs. We went down the water slide too many times, yelling silly things as we did so. We joined a bowling league together and always cheered each other on never making about who was better at it, just having fun and laughing a lot. We had so many sleepovers that always were full of laughs, especially, last new years eve when we wound up inside of the couch upstairs and you waking up in the morning not knowing how you got inside of it. We have had a lot of fun together over the years and I am grateful for every second of it. I am so glad that we stayed close through high school and college despite us going to different places and us not seeing each other as often, I never doubted that you were there for me.
Thanks for picking me up whenever I was down, for making me laugh until I cried, for dealing with me for this long, for understanding me when no one else does, for going along with whatever crazy thing I said because you were thinking it too, and mostly thanks for being my friend and for coming to my college graduation without me even asking you to. You coming into my life is honestly one of the best things that have ever happened to me. I would not be half the person that I am today without you. You have brought me so much joy, laughter, smiles, comfort, a second family, and most importantly a lifelong friend.
Thank you a lifetime of memories and for being by my side through it all, I would not have wanted it any other way.
Sincerely,
your best friend since grade one.
