An Open Letter To My Roommates

I couldn't have gotten luckier.

An Open Letter To My Roommates
Samantha Rockhill

Dear roomies,

I have been so blessed to be able to live with both of you for the last month, 2 weeks, and 5 days. To be honest I was terrified on move-in day that we wouldn't get along. But we don't just get along, we have one of the best roommate relationships out of all the freshmen I've met.

Thank you for the late night laughing fits, the once a week movie dates, inviting me to your friends, and being so welcoming to mine. I know that between our various classes, sports, jobs, social lives, and musical groups our schedules are crazy, but we always make time for each other. You have become my family.

Thank you for telling me funny stories about the bear in your high school, the summer plays you've been in, and all about awkward crushes. I love listening to Broadway tunes with you and can't wait to cheer you on at every swim meet! I love that we can talk about everything from God to politics (thank you for tolerating my rants) to your annoying chemistry class.

You are both such an encouragement to me, whether its sharing your cookies, making me laugh, giving me a hug, or just having something kind to say. Thank you for always having my back.

We're half a semester down, a quarter of the year, and you're still putting up with me. I can't wait for an amazing three more quarters with you.

And if you're not sick of me by the end of our freshman year...

We can room together next year.

Love,

A grateful roommate

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
