To My Boyfriend In The Military,
Thank you. Thank you for being so brave, and so dedicated to protecting our country. Thank you for leaving everything you have ever known behind, at just 18-years-old. Thank you for thinking it's cute when I get upset that everyone around you gets to see you in uniform and I don't. Thank you for being thousands of miles away, but still always being with me when I need you.
While it is true that I'd be proud of you no matter what path you chose, this pride is a little different. I am proud that you are strong enough to accomplish all that you have. Proud that we are able to be so strong through something so challenging. I am proud to walk beside you in uniform and show you off. But most of all, I am proud that you chose me to come home to.
Long distance relationships are known to be challenging, some even say impossible. But for the right person, you make it work. Distance absolutely makes the heart grow fonder, and mine grows fonder for you every second that you are gone. As soon as I met you, I knew that you were something special.
Thank you for staying up late with me, even though showtime is at 0430. Thank you for always sending me a good morning text, even when you only have one minute to be outside. Thank you for understanding when I get upset, and doing all that you can to fix it.
I promise to support you along the way, pick you up when you are down, and be your biggest cheerleader.
Every girl loves a man in uniform, but not all of them are lucky enough to know them before the uniform. I am happy to say that I have been privileged enough to watch you grow into the man you are today, all while taking whatever life throws at us, and throwing it right back (even harder).
I know that I don't always make it easy on you, but I promise it is because I care.
Our relationship is different than most people our age, there are times that I can't drive to your house because I miss you. Or come pick you up because I'm hungry. I can't just stop by because I am passing your house, or come over to cuddle and watch Netflix because I had a long day. But that just makes it that much better to do these things when you're home again.
Thank you for showing me that love is meant to be. Distance shows you what you really want. I know that what I want is you. I want you no matter what baggage you claim along the way. We are in this together. Not even a different state, a different time zone, or a different country can keep us apart. I love you always and forever.
