An Open Letter To My Guy Best Friend

If I had to choose all over again, I'd still pick you.

An Open Letter To My Guy Best Friend
The Eighty 8

Without you, I'm not sure I would've survived some of the toughest middle school and high school days, had near as much tough love or even be the person I am today. You'll never know the impact you've made.

To My Guy Best Friend,

A lot of times I just refer to you as my "best friend" but people truly don't know the awesomeness that is you. You're a friend and my rock. You're brave and underneath your tough shell you have one of the kindest hearts I've ever know. You're a comedian (at least to me) and also serious, whenever I need. You're a blessing and I wouldn't be me without you. You're a best friend, and you're my person.

To try and express what your friendship has meant to me would be unfair because words could never do it justice. You never cared about the latest rumor or who was mad at who in our friend groups in high school, and no matter who was to blame, you would always stick up for me. You never judged based on what I was wearing or who my latest crush was. (Looking back, maybe you should've). And as friends came and went you never left. You care with all you have and I don't even think you realize the impacts you will make on people's lives someday.

If I haven't made it clear enough, I truly don't know what I'd do in this world without you. Thank you for the countless advice about the most serious and the dumbest things. Thank you for listening to me cry over broken hearts, high school drama and everything in-between. Thank you for the hilarious snap chats, the nights spent hanging out and all the other countless memories.

Love always,

Your best friend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
