An Open Letter to a Dog Abuser

I have one question for you: how could you?

An Open Letter to a Dog Abuser

Let me just start off by saying you do not deserve an ounce of my respect and you're not going to get it. Some would say you don't even deserve my breath, but I need you to understand the magnitude of what you have done. The full intention of this letter is to remind you how inhumane and low you are. I cannot even call you a fellow human being. A human being has a heart, and you clearly do not and don't deserve to be referred to as such.

The actions you chose to execute speak volumes about the kind of person you are. You can always tell who a person is by the way they treat a dog. I hope you regret these decisions for the rest of your life. There is only one word I can use to describe you: coward. You are a coward. Picking on an innocent animal, infringing harm upon it for your own sick pleasure or neglecting it when you promised to always be there for it make you a coward. You think abusing something that is not as superior as you gives you power? If anything, it makes you weaker.

From a dog owner and lover, I could not even imagine laying a finger on my dog in a way that sets out to harm her. All dogs live to do is serve you and make you happy, with a few kisses here and there. They do not even understand when they do things wrong and they try their best every single day to make you happy. They care about you more than they would ever care about themselves. When you neglected, abandoned or abused them, you showed them that the world is full of bad people. You ruined their trust in humans and trust is something that they might never get back.

If you did not want a pet, you should have never gotten one. If you did not plan on keeping it and instead chose to dump it in an alley as it watched you drive away, you should have never gotten one. If you did not plan on loving it, you should have never gotten one. Dogs aren't punching bags you can kick around when you want to or garbage cans you can fill with nasty remarks. They are members of the family. I hope karma bites you in the butt and trust me, it will. Just for one second, think about the innocent life you are affecting instead of just thinking of yourself and your sick needs. You obviously need help.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
