Dear Best Friend,
During my years at college, I never thought that I would met someone that would change my life. Yet, here we are. My second year at college, I met someone that I decided I truly could call my best friend. You always hear those rumors about how you may never meet a true friend at college because all they want is to either crash in your room or copy your homework. Very rarely do you hear about the friends that you will make that will stand up for you at your wedding or who will take classes with you because you don’t want to take them alone.
My second year of college is when I met my college best friend. Someone that I knew I could always count on. No matter if it was a late night walks, a workout, lunch or even just sitting in our room talking, she was and is always there for me. I was lucky enough to find this person, first because we were roommates. Roommates turned into best friends turned into class mates who turned into workout buddies. Always will I remember the late night talks that we had that were mostly trying to figure out our love lives or what classes we were going to take next year. Even though we are a year apart in age, that never stopped us from being close.
Who else will I be able to take pictures with like this? Taking selfies on the first day of class and then the last day of class knowing that we were going to look totally different. Sitting in the back of class because we knew that at the end of the class period we would be cracking jokes over what happened. We look a lot happier when it came to that last day of class because we knew that it was officially over. No matter what though, we always pushed through that class to make sure we were always there or that we always knew what was going on, sometimes even sitting in the class we had no idea what was going on. Now that we will no longer have classes together, we will have to get our fancy drinks and go our separate ways.
I will never forget the random times you came to me and said, “Gym?” Knowing that I hated going to the gym, you always motivated me to go. The gym always seemed like a place that I did not want to go to alone. Yet, you showed me that I can go and work out and not care what other people say.
We may be going our separate ways this year and may no longer be roommates but I know that will not stop us from hanging out. We both know that we will always expect to get that text saying “Lunch?” “Late night drive?” “Meet me at the gym?” College best friends are an amazing thing to have because even when you are gone for the summer, they will still tag you in Facebook photos or text you to check in on you.
Love,
Your Sassy Best Friend.
