An Open Letter From Daddy's Girl

We all know how to get our way, but do we thank Dad enough?

An Open Letter From Daddy's Girl

Dad,

Thank you for always loving and supporting me... I might not always make the best decisions, and you'll let me know when I fall short of your expectations, but thank you for always being there to catch me when I fall. You always have my back, even when I turn away from you.

Thank you for letting me grow and make my own decisions... You have taught me right from wrong, and you have drilled your beliefs into my mind and I am so thankful for the chances you have given me to determine my own belief system, values and make my own decisions. You never judge me based on my beliefs, and hold me to a high standard of values. I am thankful for the basis you have given me.

Thank you for being my number-one fan... No matter what it is I'm doing, you're always there to cheer me on (and you're the loudest one yelling). It could be the littlest accomplishment, but you're always so excited and proud. I know when I have exciting news to share, you're always the first person I want to tell.

Thank you for putting up with the losers I've dated... I know you haven't always approved, and as a daddy's girl, approval can be a deal-breaker, but thank you for always giving the guys I've dated a chance. I know they haven't always treated me the best, and eventually I'll learn, but thank you for giving them a chance anyway.

Thank you for never getting mad at me... I know there are so many times where you want to say "I told you so" and sometimes you do, but thank you for never staying mad at me, forgiving me, and teaching me how to do better the next time.

Thank you for letting me be one of the boys, but also your princess... Some of my favorite memories are when you would treat me like one of the boys, play sports and get dirty, but I also cherished the tea parties, painted nails, and times you played with my Barbies. Thank you for teaching me it's okay to like both "boy things" and "girl things" and loving me regardless.

Thank you for putting my happiness first... You always work your butt off to pay for all daddy's little girl needs (and the things I claim to need, even though they're really a want) and don't complain. Thank you for letting the puppy-dog eyes and "daaaaaaddy" work every now and then. Thank you for going to the silly daddy-daughter dances, teaching me how to dance, and making sure I am constantly laughing and happy.

Thank you for allowing me to grow, but still be your little girl... I will always be daddy's little girl, no matter how old I get. Thank you for letting me grow up, make my own decisions, learn from my mistakes and be me, but most importantly, thank you for allowing me to continue to be your little girl, even when I'm way too big to sit on your lap, pretend to be asleep so you carry me to my bed, or ride on your shoulders.

XOXO,

Daddy's Little Girl

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
