An Open Letter To Myself

Take it easy on yourself, girlfriend.

I think it is safe to say that we all get down sometimes and could use a little pep-talk. Well, that is why I'm writing about this today. So, whenever I am feeling down, I will have this self-written letter to look back on to help me get through the tough times that feel like the end of the world to me. You could even apply it to yourself, if you wish. After all, we all need some encouragement from time to time.

Dear me,

I hope you are doing well. If not, then I am glad you decided to refer back to this letter to hopefully find some guidance and positive encouragement for yourself. Let me start off by saying that whatever you are worried about, just know that you will overcome it. I know you are probably stressing out about something so minute, because that is what you usually do, and you shouldn't. You are so awesome and you should always take pride in that and recognize it. You can do anything that you put your mind to. You have made it this far, haven't you? So, why give up on yourself now? Also, stop doubting yourself. If you recently received some bad news, or just had a bad day in general, take a step back and realize that it isn't the end of the world. You can be very short-tempered sometimes, so try not to let it get the best of you. Remember that everything happens for a reason, good or bad. God has a plan for you, always remember that. Everything will work out the way it is supposed to, even if you don't like it, it will in the end. Life is so beautiful and precious, don't take it for granted. I know it is easy to get lost in your daily life and forget to step back and realize how blessed you are, but trust me, you are. Mom, dad, and Jordan are always going to be there for you, no matter what. Talk to people and let them know how you feel. If you keep everything inside, you will hate yourself later. I know it is hard for you to trust people and open up, but sometimes you have to if you want to feel better. So, learn to let go and do what makes you happy. Don't give up on your dreams, ever. You were destined for greatness, and you can achieve anything you want and you WILL. You already know this, but I am just reiterating it to you because I know sometimes you forget and don't give yourself enough credit when you deserve it. You are so critical of yourself sometimes that you can be your own worst enemy. Take life one day at a time, girlfriend. I know school is probably overwhelming you a ton right now, but guess what? You will get through it! As much as it seems like everything is attacking you at once, you will somehow prevail and get through those assignments and crush them all. Your work ethic is both a strength and weakness for you, so take some time to decompress so that you don't go completely crazy on yourself, okay? It's okay to relax every now and then, so try to do it more often for yourself. I think this letter is long enough, but I hope it is beneficial to you (and me technically lol). Remember to never give up and always shoot for the stars and seize the day. Grandpa would be proud of you too.

Love,

Yourself

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
