An Ode To Pop Punk Bands

"Punk's not dead, it just went pop."

An Ode To Pop Punk Bands

The new Blink 182 album and tour with A Day To Remember and All Time Low has everyone feeling nostalgic. I'm sure we all remember when we first started listening to Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco, and when "Dammed If I Do Ya, Dammed If I Don't" was everyone's favorite song. I would personally like to thank pop punk bands for making great music always, being my boyfriend and I's mutual music taste, and always giving me something to look forward to when I plug in my earphones.

To Panic! At The Disco,

Thank you for making a fantastic new album, "Death Of A Bachelor," but still giving me the opportunity to jam to "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." Brandon Urie's voice will forever be recognizable to our generation.

To Fall Out Boy,

Even though no one would ever spell "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" correctly, the song was still one of the best. When you made a comeback in 2013 every single teenager was beside themselves, and feeling nostalgic.

To Blink 182,

Your super short and funny songs gave my friends and I a lot of laughs when we were in middle school. If you don't know the song "All The Small Things" or "What's My Age Again?," then we have a problem.

To All Time Low,

Thank you for fulfilling a young girl's need to listen to punk music, and thank you for your endless songs that every teen knew the words too. The "Weightless" music video will forever be one of my favorites.

To Green Day,

"Time Of Your Life" will always be the number one graduation song, and "21 Guns" will always be the song I hear playing in every restaurant, store, and my car and iPod of course.

To Paramore,

I would like to thank Haley Williams for inspiring every girl to want to put funky colors in their hair, and belt out punk songs at the top of their lungs.

To Evanescence,

I remember my cooler, older cousin loving Evanescence before I listened to anything other than the Disney channel. I started listening to them after that, and never wanted to stop. "My Immortal," "Call Me When You're Sober," and "Bring Me To Live" will always be some of my main jams.

To My Chemical Romance,

When I was a new teenager, I remember listening to "Teenagers" and being scared for what was to come. Little did I know I would be loving My Chemical Romance more and more as time went on. "Mama" is my favorite, but all of the others like "Famous Last Words," "Dead!," "Disenchanted" and of course, "Welcome To The Black Parade" and more will never be taken off my music lists.

To Hollywood Undead,

For the people that knew Hollywood Undead, we were a tight group. Rapping "Everywhere I Go" was my go-to party trick. I even had a Hollywood Undead shirt from Hot Topic. I would like to say I grew out of Hollywood Undead, but I still know the words to almost all of your songs.

To Good Charlotte,

"I Don't Want To Be In Love" was one of the first songs that I learned how to play on the piano, because I loved it so much. "Girls Don't Like Boys" is also a classic. I'm listening to it as I type. Good Charlotte will always be good, and I will never refuse listening to them.

To Bowling For Soup,

"1985" was the biggest song during my childhood and teen years. The words are forever imprinted in the brains of our generation. Also, "High School Never Ends" is not only one of the truest songs in history, but it also rocks.

Pop Punk music will always be the best, no matter what. Also, special shout out to Jimmy Eat World, All American Rejects, Simple Plan, Sum 41, Cartel, Mayday Parade, The Maine, Taking Back Sunday, Relient K, A Day To Remember, and Boys Like Girls.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
