"American Horror Story" fans have been sitting and coming up with what the sixth season was going to be about. Show creator Ryan Murphy had done an amazing job at keeping everyone guessing by releasing different trailers all relating to different possible themes. On Wednesday the 14th we finally found out that the theme is My Roanoke Nightmare and after two and a half eh seasons, Ryan Murphy has finally gotten the show back to the creepy, fun purpose that season one through the first half of three had.
When the show starts, we find out that this season is going to be in the format of those dramatic-retelling docu-series where the real people tell their stories and then the show has actors reenacting (think My Ghost Story, Sex Sent Me To The ER, etc). It is through that we are introduced to actual Shelby (Lily Rabe), reenactment Shelby (Sarah Paulson), Matt (André Holland, and reenactment Matt (Cuba Gooding Jr.). Married couple living in Los Angeles until an unfortunate event causes them to choose to move to good old North Carolina where, of course, they choose to move into a house that is in the middle of the woods. Haunting occurs and Matt assumes that the people harassing them are their neighbors who he believes are doing it because Matt is black and wants them out. So he sets up some cameras to allow him to keep an eye on the house while he's away and Shelby is at the house. He calls in his sister, Lee (Adina Porter, Angela Bassett), a former police officer dismissed due to getting addicted to prescription meds. More creepy haunting ensues and then Shelby gets the hell out of that house, hits Kathy Bates character with a car, gets lost, ground is breathing, pitchfork-wielding people head to Shelby (just to hang out, I assume), and a man (Matt Bomer, I think?) comes out with no scalp and then it's done. We are now left hanging for another week.
Based off of this one episode, I do think we got ourselves a success of a season. As long as they don't go "Hotel" on us and have a solid few minutes of an orgy, it will most defintely be better than last.
