Make America White Again

What you are really advocating when you say you'll vote for Trump.

Make America White Again
Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day

The fact that a lemon-sour head who plans to “make America white,” I mean “great again” is a Republican candidate bites me. It is ridiculous how such an egomaniac, who only cares for himself has made it thus far in the primaries. Time and time again, he has offended women and minorities, as well as gained support of some of the most outlandish people (that is the nicest word I can come up with at the moment). Rather than go on an unorganized rant, here are things people advocate for when they say they are voting for Trump.

1. Racism.

Do I really need to explain myself here? He called Mexicans rapists and drug dealers. He claims all Hispanics are Mexican. First of all, immigrants are not rapists and drug dealers. Rainn.org states that 51% of rape criminals are White. November.org claims that 66% of Whites are drug dealers between the ages 18-25. Let’s also talk about his Cinco de Mayo Twitter post. It is not a Hispanic holiday; it is a Mexican Holiday that has become Americanized with heavy drinking. Some of you Trump supporters better not have been drinking that day.

2. All lives matter.

Now, what is wrong with this? Let’s picture a role reversal. Minorities were cops and whites were blacks. Let’s say that Trayvon Martin was white, and George Zimmerman was Black and proven innocent. Imagine all that heat. Not only that, but imagine all these cops picking on white people because they were stereotypically known as robbers and killers. Also, imagine not feeling safe around a cop and feeling that at any moment he can point his or her gun at you for no reason.

3. "Make America White again."

First of all, this country was founded by Native Americans. They owned all the land before the pilgrims – who escaped from religious prejudices – took over their land. Not only that, but before that fantastic idea known as “manifest destiny” there were also Native Americans who experienced the Trail of Tears under Andrew Jackson (who is on your twenty-dollar bill). They kept on pushing the original owners out of their homes. Think of how you would feel if someone came to your house and claimed that it was destined to be theirs. They also took away land from Mexico, which consisted of Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah. This country was founded by immigrants. If you say you want to kick out illegals, we might as well give all this land back to the Native Americans because it was never ours in the first place

4. Women are objects.

He constantly objectifies women. He believes in order to be the perfect woman you have to be 5 feet 7 inches and 120 pounds. No woman is perfect. You cannot make a female believe she is only good for her looks. He also believes that women should not have the right to have an abortion, if she so chooses. Remember, he even said he would “date” his daughter.

5. No religious toleration.

He is hurting the first amendment rights of every citizen of the United States, especially Muslims. 9/11 was the result of the actions of a few Muslims, not the entire population. He is giving a social stigma about Muslims in America. Saying that he wants to ban all Muslims is as ridiculous as his Twitter post on Cinco de Mayo. It is 2016, and we should be learning from our past (*cough Hitler *cough).

So, before you go out and cast a vote, make sure you are aware of what kinds of messages the candidate you're voting for is permitting. It’s the 21st century and we are millennials. The person we elect as president come November 2016 can affect the environment we live in as well as the jobs we get. This is our future. Make sure you make the right choice

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
