Let's Talk About The Out Of Control National Spending In America

It's concerning, and if you don't think it is then you aren't paying attention.

$21,153,305,440,608 was The United States Of America's national debt when I originally wrote this. What is it at now? Because that number has grown by tens of thousands of dollars to since you read the first sentence. The addictive spending habits of our federal government are truly mind-boggling, and sadly not talked about nearly enough.

For Americans in their 20's or younger, this is our financial and economic future at hand. This debt will be our burden and there is no way around it. President George W. Bush, who served from 2001-2009 as President, put the country into debt. When he left office, the country was at just around $10 trillion. When President Obama took over he was not better at all, in his 8 years as President he added just under $11 trillion to the national debt.

I urge you to look at the U.S. National Debt Clock. Just simply look at how fast it moves and the fact it never stops. The numbers are overwhelmingly long, and it's talking about money. Just being a citizen of the United States makes you $58,030 in debt, just from being born as a US citizen, you are already $58,030 in debt automatically.

The worst part of this incredibly pressing issue is never talked about on mainstream platforms or by people. I rarely see anyone get heated or passionate about the national debt. This is our economic future at hand. This debt is real and it isn't going away... one of which we will be paying off for generations to come.

The scariest thing about this and why you should care... is that more than likely, you will not get social security when you retire as we were promised. We will never see the money taken being given back to us. Instead, every paycheck's taxes are being spent to fuel the dangerous national spending habit.

They clearly do not care about tackling the national debt, and it has piled up beyond control. Neither party has any politicians who press this as a front and center issue as it should be. Sadly we the people seem to not care either. If we did care about it, we would demand that politicians make it a part of their platform.

The United States federal government's incredible overreach and wasteful spending has no end in sight. Making matters worse, the government technically doesn't generate any of its own money. Whenever you hear about the government throwing money around, it's either money from tax paying citizens or from the social security fund.

The national debt doesn't care what race, or religion, or age, or class you are in. Once the debt bubble pops, and the possibility of defaulting as a country truly hits, we are all in very deep shit.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
