Counting Down The Sundays

America Misses Football Sunday
National Football Post

Football season is coming soon but not soon enough. It is my favorite season, as it is many others in this nation. Watching football on a Sunday or Monday, or even a Saturday for college, it is something that brings people together. America misses it, every part of football season is missed from the moment the Super Bowl ends, to draft picks, to the beginning of the new season. Why can't football be year round?

1. Missing the rivalries.

Yea, football brings us together, but it also kinda sets us apart from each other as well. Because let's face it, some teams will never get along and that's just how it is. Which is great because it makes the games that much more exciting. And plus, who doesn't wanna see some fists thrown on a Sunday afternoon?

2. Making fun of the teams that aren't very good.

Everyone has their team and their least favorite team, but there are always those teams that everyone kinda makes fun of. For example, the Miami Dolphins, yea, they kind of suck and everyone always talks about it but they're still respected. Mostly because the beat the Patriots last season when they were undefeated.

3. Two words: Fantasy Football.

You get to pick and choose the best team possible. Because you get to choose from different teams it makes it more fun. And plus you can win money, so that's always nice.

4. That feeling you get when your team wins.

Hands down one of the best feelings in the entire world is watching your team win. Especially against its rival or a close game. It's enough to make a grown man cry and I've seen it happen.

5. Looking at the stats every week.

The best part of football is that your team could lose that week but still have high ratings and be high up in the list of Super Bowl maybes. And just because they win there might still be a chance that they aren't high in the ranking.

6. The Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl, the one event that let's you know if your team is actually as great as you believe they are. Tensions run very high, the plays are hit or miss and there is never a dull moment in the Super Bowl. Everyone wants their team to win the Super Bowl and get the title, but even if your team isn't playing, you still watch and get into it.

7. Super Bowl parties.

Best part about the Super Bowl is getting together with all your friends and watching it together. You get to freak out, yell, scream and dance with other people who are in love with this sport too. Plus, food, the food is great.

8. The commercials.

The commercials are no less than perfect and I don't mind taking a commercial break because I know they are going to be funny, outrageous and downright weird sometimes. And that's OK because it makes it totally worth it.

And finally, the best part about football season:

9. The NFL Bad Lip Readings.

These bad lip readings are so funny and make no sense. It doesn't really have anything to do with football but I patiently wait every season to see the new ones come out. I even make up my own while watching the games.

Football season brings people together from all around America. Each season brings a chance from your favorite team to redeem themselves from last season. It brings hope that they will make it to the Super Bowl, it gives their fans hope. We have seven more Sundays until the start of the season and I cannot wait to see what this season holds for my team.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
