Asking "what would Jesus do"?

I tried my best to steer clear of being yet, another writer who discussed the sad reality of our upcoming presidential election but no one seems to be able to stop talking about Trump and Hillary; fair enough but point blank, i'm tired of the trash talk.

In all harsh reality, they both aren't ideal... to put it in nice terms, since the basis of this entire article is to exhort that we end the trash talk.

As a Christian, I find it best to be extremely cliche...

OK, so both candidates suck... obviously they're not perfect and it doesn't matter who runs for office, no one will meet 100% of America's standards and ideals, our coming election has proven this so well.

Here's where the Christian-Cliche-Syndrome kicks in.

In all literal terms, what would Jesus do?

My freshman year in college, I took a class where we were taught that this form of mentally, for a Christian, is pretty much complete bogus, but I think it's appropriate for this topic.

So, what would Jesus do? What would He say?

Sure, he'd be disappointed in both the actions and words expressed by both Candidates but I am so tired of Christians completely dehumanizing and disrespecting these individuals. It's exhausting the number of posts I have to scroll past where every other word is a cuss word used to describe Trump or Hillary.

Regardless if whether you want to "make America great again" or whether or not you're "with her"; there is no need to completely disrespect either party.

Most of the trash talk I have seen has come from Christians who call out either or Trump or Hillary and justify it in the name of Jesus.

For the sake of argument, I know we can point back to the time and Jesus flipped tables and brought out a whip to those using the temple as a marketplace but if you ask yourself why He did it, it was because He knew the actions of these individuals weren't just.

Jesus was disheartened by the fact that those called to represent Him, weren't representing Him at all, and yet they thought that their actions represented Jesus well.

I don't believe God is angry at those scolding Trump or Hillary. I don't believe He's getting ready to show up to a debate and flip tables and start whipping the audience.

I believe that like myself, God is disheartened at the words and actions America is sharing over these two individuals. No, you don't have to agree with them.

No, you don't have to even appreciate their existence but if you are truly striving to live a good life, a good life set in a mirrored example of who Jesus is, then stop talking if you have nothing nice to say.

Stop being disrespectful. I know this election is scary and at this point, we can't truly control the outcome but you can control what comes out of your mouth.

To every Christian that is worried about where the future of America is heading, go back to the basics of Christianity and leave it to God.

Pray about it. Don't get angry and rant on Facebook, as easy as it is... thinking that because whatever each candidate stands for, if it's against your God and your morals, that your hateful words are justified, they're not.

At the end of the day, we shouldn't fear the outcome because God is still in control.

Religious or not, it all goes back to this: If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all.

Seriously, please... just don't.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
