Every day I am more and more amazed by my boyfriend. I am amazed by his generosity and his unconditional love. Not just for me but people in the marching and pep band who he is mentoring or classmates from a different country who he is trying to make feel welcome. His love for his family also is astonishing. After a long string of relationship with guys who disrespected their parents, it is a refreshing change to see a guy who actually respects his family.

I also am amazed at his ability to let go of the little things. To move on when something does not go his way and always look at the positive of a situation. It is a skill I am working on having for myself and am getting better at because of the time I have spent with him. The other day he lost something and just said it would be ok because he could get another one. Whenever I lose something however, I will spend hours look for into until I become stressed out and give up.

I am amazed by his heart and his strive to make me better whenever I am sick or stressed out. He pushes me outside of my comfort zone and believes in me when I cannot. He is the sole reason why I believe I can make one day deadlines for articles and pass my exams. We both introduce each other to new things we probably never would known about had the other not told us about it.

I am also amazed by his dedication to his school work and the band. I have never seen anyone study so hard or play so many games to not let the team down. However, his hard work is juxtaposed with a laid-back personality I am also amazed by. He teaches me about the importance of taking breaks and not working hard because life is short, so let’s go play Frisbee golf.

I believe, like most people, that everything happens for a reason. With my family being in a different country and not having a support system, I can lean on not only him but his entire family whenever times get hard. We have both been together at extreme lows, like when I had a severe eye infection and ups when we passed our math exams or got publishes in the school paper. He is the first person I contact whenever something good happens and I know he feels the same.

To watch him grow and succeed is an honor that I can’t believe I was lucky enough to receive. It is amazing to simply be around people who inspire us, but I am lucky to be with him every day and witness it firsthand. Being with him has changed my perspective on so many things. He truly is my better half and I am so lucky that I continue to be amazed every day.
