When life gives you lemons…
Growing up, I took my religion for granted. I was raised in a family with certain beliefs and for a long time I just went along with it. I didn’t have a firm belief for myself, I just trusted what I was told.
Then came the teenage years.
I, like most teenage idiots, just HAD to fight everything. I didn’t hang out with people that encouraged me to be my best self, and I started asking a lot of questions, but I wasn’t directing them to the right people. I knew I wanted answers, but I wasn’t even sure what exactly I wanted to know.
Back then, my life was pretty easy. I hadn’t really needed to exercise faith in anything because I wasn’t reliant on it. But that can’t last when trials begin to pop up in your life.
Everyone needs something to believe in. How can you have a purpose if you don’t have a destination for reference?
Here’s some things I’ve learned over the years that I now apply to my life.
1. There is nothing wrong with asking questions, but don’t be a dummy about it.
Ask questions that are important and have a sincere desire for answers. Don’t just ask to be contrary.
2. Think about why you want to know.
Is is just because you’re curious, or are you truly invested in the results?
3. What makes you happy?
That heart-swelling, pure joy type of happiness, not just short-term pleasure. Once, you know, do what you can to achieve that happiness.
4. What is your ultimate goal?
What beliefs, guidelines, or standards can help you get there? Always keep that goal in mind.
5. HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE!!
Life isn’t meant to be easy. If it was, it would hardly be a journey at all. Facing life with a positive outlook enables you to get so much more out of it every day!
6. When life does get rough, remind yourself that trials allow you to learn and grow, and you can use your experiences to help others!
7. NEVER give up.
No matter what. In the end, it’ll all be worth it.
I don’t know everything, and all things considered, my trials have been a piece of cake compared to things that many people all over the world are struggling with. But I know that ANY trial can be overcome if you just have a little faith. Believe in something, or you will fall for anything.
