New Year's Resolutions; Do we ever really keep them? From deciding to eat healthier, to quitting bad habits, and bettering your social life, by mid-February most people have turned their backs on those resolutions that they set out. So I'm offering a couple of alternatives to New Year's resolutions that you may like better.
1. Make a List of Everything you expect for the New Year
Instead of trying to work to achieve your New Year's Resolution, make a list of everything you expect to happen for yourself in the New Year. Keep these goals in mind sub-consciously so that it is not an everyday thing. Then at the break of the next New Year, you can look back on all the progress you have made.
2. Letters to My Future Self
This is one of my of my favorite things to do! The cool thing about this is that it's self reflection. The books have guides and topics for you to write about. The cool thing to do with this is to look back at all the progress you've made in your life.
3. Make a Memory Jar
All you need is a mason jar and colorful paper. Write down a memory that happened to you every day and store it in the jar. Next year, you can look back on it in retrospect.
4. Choose one word for 2016.
Pick one word that you want to feel by the end of the year i.e. "Happy" "Successful" "Accomplished", etc. and work to achieve that feeling.
5. Acknowledge the Good Things About Yourself
New Years isn't always about changing yourself. It can sometimes be about acknowledging the positive things as well. When you focus on the good things more good things come. Tending to focus on the negative things about yourself can sometimes leave to stagnation and self-pity.
