Summer is the season of sunburns, tan lines, watermelon and barbeques. It is a break from school/work where you get to spend time with your family and friends not caring about a thing. Summer is the time to put your imagination to work, there are so many things to do it's just up to you to actually do it. Hopefully, you find some of these ideas worth trying out during these long hot days of summer. Make sure you apply lots of sunscreen and enjoy the fun!

1.) Vacation

Doesn't have to be anything extravagant, no need to fly to Hawaii or take a cruise to Cancun. Just grab your best friend, pack a bag and start driving. Whether it's a week long or just a few days, getting out of your city and entering into a new one can be a whole lot of fun. Plan out a few pit stops along the way and make memories!

2.) Netflix & chill

Binge watching is a good way to stay relaxed and let the time fly by. New seasons are always being released and new shows are always added. Find a show that has good ratings and a lot of seasons. Stay committed to your show and watch till the very end. If it helps have a friend join in so you both can stay updated on all the drama of who died and who's getting married.

3.) Play in the water

Beach, lake, pool or river — whatever body of water is close by, make sure you spend lots of time in it. Spend a day tanning by yourself or get a group of friends and spend the day going wild in the sun. There are so many fun activities that can be done in the water. Surfing, tubing, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and much can be done in all types of water. It is a great way to cool yourself off from the hot sun and start getting those tan lines.

4.) Date night

Summer is the perfect time to go out and meet new people. Going on dates is a good way to get yourself out there, building communication skills and getting out of your comfort zone while having a few good meals at the same time. These date nights can be with a significant other or just a friend. What is important is that you're out of the house having fun and enjoying your summer.

5.) Party

It is as simple as it sounds — invite a whole bunch of friends and throw together a party. You can have a beach party, house party, or go out to a club. Letting loose for a night dancing to music and dressing up is such a fun way to spend your weekends. Not only do you have fun with your friends but you meet a lot of people while you're at it. Meeting new people can lead to many activities over this long summer.

6.) Work out

Shedding off a few pounds doesn't hurt either. This is a great time to gain muscle and lose the fat. Motivate yourself to take an hour out of your day devoting it to yourself and your health. By the end of your summer, you will see a difference and be so proud of the new you.

7.) Try something new

Find local restaurants you've been wanting to try or check out the new business around the corner that just opened up. It is a great way to keep active and updated within your community. Plan a day to golf, ride a bike or paint pottery. Keep your options open and experience something new.

Now it is time to take out a piece a paper and plan out some awesome fun activities to do this summer. Make a list of goals to accomplish that you will be proud to have done once this is over. Being active and making memories will make your summer great. No need to stay indoors alone being bored. Keep updated with your friends and family and make summer 2016 a great one!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
