To All The Pokemon Go Haters

The only thing I've been catching is grief from you. Get over it.

I'm a 90s kid. So, it shouldn't shock anyone that I was into Pokemon during my childhood. And now, as an adult, my love for Pokemon has been re-kindled because of Pokemon Go. While the game inspires us to be active, nostalgic and social, it is also getting a lot of hate from the public.

Car accidents, bumping into other pedestrians, and being the favorite topic for social media posts are just a few of the reasons Pokemon Go is generating hate from the public. Here is why none of these are good enough reasons to hate this popular game.

1. Car Accidents

Yes, there are stupid drivers out there playing Pokemon Go while driving. But, how is this any different from those same stupid drivers who text, Facebook, Snapchat and do other distracting things while they drive? The answer; it isn't. Pokemon Go is no worse than doing any of these other acts while driving. It is dangerous to play while driving. This should be common sense and I don't think the game is at fault. It is the individual who should be held accountable for their actions behind the wheel.

2. Pedestrians Not Paying Attention

Again, Pokemon Go is not the reason that so-and-so almost walked into traffic or bumped into a street sign. The person wasn't paying attention. Regardless of what they were doing that distracted them, it is still their fault that they weren't paying attention to their surroundings. If they had received a text from "mom" and bumped into you while reading it, would it then be their mother's fault they weren't paying attention and walked into you? No. So why are we blaming a game that warns on it's log in screen to "be aware of your surroundings?"

3. Flooding Social Media With Pokemon Go Posts

Really? If people are getting upset seeing Pokemon Go posts, then it is only proving that America has become too sensitive and butt-hurt over every little thing. It is okay not to be offended over everything you see on social media. I understand you probably don't want to read about how excited I was that I hatched a Porygon from a 5k egg yesterday, but maybe I don't want to read about how much you love Hillary Clinton and her pantsuits. But guess what, that isn't my place to tell you what you should and shouldn't post and if I'm your friend I have to accept that I'll see those things on my social media. I don't get a say in what anyone I'm friends with posts and they shouldn't have a say in what I post. So to everyone saying, "I'm so sick of Pokemon Go on social media," deal with it, because I'm sick of the crap you post and at least mine is about having fun and not the impending doom of America in the next presidential elections.

Whether you hate or not, Pokemon Go is something enjoyable for people to do in their free-time. I work two jobs, I have bills to pay and if I want to play Pokemon on my day off, I should be able to do that without people breathing down my neck saying how horrible it is. Get over it, America. It's just a game.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
