The American Eagle brand is defying typical beauty standards with its Aerie Real campaign. The Aerie Real campaign which launched back in 2014 has embraced real beauty by putting an end to the company's photoshop use. That is correct, Aerie photos are REAL. By not altering the images of their models the brand is making the statement that women are beautiful just the way they are.
Aerie Real praises all body types. Aerie recognizes that each individual is unique and special. For this reason it has gained massive support. Hilary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens, and Emma Roberts are just a few of the women who have embraced #aerieREAL.
Aerie is encouraging girls around the world to embrace the beauty they were born with. Their slogan claims that "The Real You is Sexy." The campaign embodies the idea that beauty and worth are not found in the size of an individuals clothes or in the number of freckles a person has on their face. Beauty can be defined by who a person is. Beauty is unique and different. Arie's desire is for women to know their worth and love what makes them different.

Aerie Real has created quite the social media stir. Aerie is asking girls to share what makes them #aerieREAL. Many girls with different backgrounds and body types have shared their stories on social media. Some have even been featured on aerie’s social media accounts. The campaign has really allowed girls to love who they are and what makes them different. Instead of hiding, girls are embracing the beauty they were born with.

The brand is desperately attempting to destroy any beauty stereotypes. Aerie has made a stand and continues to do so. Just last week, Aerie promised to donate one dollar (up to 30k) to the NEDA Staff for every untouched swim photo shared using the hashtag #aerieREAL in order to support those who are affected by eating disorders.
