The only advice I have for you

Is to always and forever stay truly you.

Never let the important plans fall through,

And don't ever let the mean girls get to you.

Friends these days can seem so very cruel.

It's as if they skipped this lesson in grade school.

It was so much better when we were younger and unafraid

But here you are in high school feeling so very betrayed.

They'll try to force things upon you with all their convincing little claims,

One day they'll wake up and realize it's no longer fun and games.

The pointless drama and silly little fights won't last forever

And sooner than later it will seem like a pointless endeavor.

Some friends will come and some will go,

Others will stay and put on a show.

But your mom will always be the first to know

Which ones will truly help you grow.

She'll be your best friend and biggest nightmare at times

But if you don't take her advice you'll probably want to think twice.

Your beauty, brain, and humor is how you make do,

So please don't let those mean girls ever try to change you.

High School is tough trust me I know,

Sometimes it feels as if you're putting on a show.

Other days you feel like you can barely make it through

But never let that make you feel any shade of blue.

I know blue is just a color

but it doesn't look good on you.

And if you ever feel out of place,

you'll always have someone to turn to.

I know some people act strange and out of place,

But you can't always judge a person by the look on their face.

Some things people do seem hard to excuse

But maybe you'd understand if you put yourself in their shoes.

Your actions don't always define who you are

But sometimes they will leave a nasty little scar.

Along with all the stress that leads to those awful headaches,

You'll probably go through some tragic, life-altering heartaches.

If he tells you he loves you

There's no way to know it's true

But don't let that stop you

From letting a relationship pursue.

It's ok to open up your heart

Even if you may not know he's the one from the start.

Who knows, you may never want to be apart,

Or maybe you'll realize this wasn't very smart.

The advice I have to help you through

Is if your friends and family don't approve,

He is defiantly not the one for you

Because they can see from a better point of view

And they are all just looking out for you.

Yeah, it's tough and will feel like your world is ending

And when your friend goes through this the crying will seem never-ending.

But be there for her cause that's what friends do,

And always support each other whatever you're going through.

This is all part of flourishing into the life you'll proudly live

But that's only possible if you open up your heart and selflessly give.

Life's about more than just fitting in your jeans,

So, eat that pizza and dessert by all means.

Soon you'll grow up and realize life is pretty good.

I bet then you'd go back a few years if you could.

Don't take life for granted, it doesn't owe you anything.

And it's definitely not tying you down with any sort of string.

Life's too short to pretend to be anything but you

Do yourself a favor and do what you want to

Be spontaneous, do something you're not used to

Stop, smile, and don't forget to enjoy the view.

I hope you take this advice from me to you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
