Dear You,
You are so beautiful. I remember when you were little. You looked at me like you had all the wonder in the world. Your eyes were filled with joy and your smile was infectious. You were my little ball of fun and I've had the privilege of watching you grow. Now you are older. You have surpassed me in height, you have more attitude and more laughter than anyone I have ever met. Now that I have watched you grow, I want to tell you a few things I wish someone would have told me when I was your age.
First off, you are beyond worthy. I know that we forget what this means and we fall short and believe what others may say about us. But you are worthy of great things. You are worthy in the eyes of Christ and you are worthy of everything you have ever dreamed of. Do not let anyone limit your abilities or your potential. Who you are and what you are capable of are beyond others comprehension.
How do I know that? Because I love you. I can see all the good things you could do. I can see how special you are and how much God has in store for you. Do not let anyone limit that. Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young. Believe in yourself and know that you are completely worthy. And I'll be by your side, being your own personal cheerleader every step of the way.
It's okay to be who you are. You are who you are for a reason. God did not make a mistake when He made you. You are unique, beautiful and unlike anyone else. You stand out from the rest. You are not afraid to say what is on your mind, or to tell anyone else for that matter. You stand up for what you believe. You love others fiercely and you care deeply. You are quick to stand by others and are slow to walk away. I admire you and your strength. I admire who you are. Because you are inspiring in every sense.
Right now you are entering into a time of your life where things will drastically change. Your friends and their hobbies are becoming different. The girls around you are taking more of an interest in boys and makeup. Your friends are establishing their style and musical taste. They are finding who they are in every sense. There are a lot of lessons and growth that come from this time in life. It is not always easy, and it can seem like an emotional roller coaster.
Life is meant to be taken as an adventure. You are meant to be challenged and stretched in new ways. If you weren't, you would not be who you are or who you will be in the future. You are going to establish who you are in these stages. Now it's my turn to stand by you and be by your side as you find who you are. I want to be there for you when things get confusing and frustrating. But I also want to be there celebrating on your behalf and your accomplishments.
I just want you to know how much I appreciate you and love you. You mean the absolute world to me. I would not be who I am today without you. I also want to say thank you. Thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. Thank you for all of the sleepovers and dance parties. Thank you for giving me joy when I couldn't find it myself. Thank you for being my best friend. And thank you for never making life dull.
No distance and no amount of time could take away from how much I adore you. I hope that when new challenges arise, you will find this letter and think of how loved and cherished you are.
With Love,
Your Sister.
