After wrapping up the last few weeks of your college semester, it's undeniable that you're ready to pack up and go home for a summer of rest and relaxation. Or perhaps you're taking summer classes, or heading straight for your summer job right after you finish. No matter what you're doing over the summer, my best advice would be to make sure you set some time aside to go on some kind of adventure. It doesn't matter if it's a long trip, or just a couple of hours hiking in the woods with your best friend, it's all the same, and it can influence your well-being in the most positive ways.
Everyone's definition of "adventure" is slightly different because everyone has different hobbies and past times. If you don't know what you would consider an adventure, I would advise trying different kinds to see which you prefer. The possibilities are truly endless, but my favorite way of adventuring is either going to a natural areas with several different walking trails to do some light hiking. There is something about the way nature sounds, smells, and feels when you're completely surrounded by it that calms me down a little, and makes room for some awesome conversations with my friends, if they choose to go with me. These adventures could also be done on your own, because while it's good to have a companion, sometimes a little solitude can refresh your soul.
Another one of my chosen adventures is going to the beach. However, for me, this isn't always as plausible, as the closest shore to me is an hour and a half away, but if you're in the same position as I am, with a little planning, the drive down is always worth it. Words cannot explain how calm and at peace with myself I'm near the ocean. I can smell it and hear the waves crash from miles away, and the closer I get, the more my petty little problems seem to just fade away.
Maybe you'd prefer to do some kind of sporty activity, or plan an entire week away to go out of the country. Whatever you need to feel like you're having some kind of adventure in your life, do it, and do it as soon as you can. After college is over, we are all well aware that adventuring will not be as easy or as free as it is now, so we have to take advantage of the time while it lasts.
Adventuring develops curiosity, allows you to relax (or, if you choose, to get an adrenaline boost), and even has the power to get you away from your technology, if even for a little while and experience life for what it is. The simplest activities that could be considered adventures are of little or no cost too, it just may take some transportation to get there, but it's worth every second, penny, and moment that you spend on it.
