Adventure Club Headlines The RECESS Festival At Penn
MSO PR

Adventure Club, comprised of Canadian DJ duo Christian Srigley and Leighton James, is coming to The Fillmore in Philadelphia on Oct. 9 as part of the RECESS festival, a college music and ideas festival backed by billionaire entrepreneur and Shart Tank investor Mark Cuban. RECESS, cohosting with Wharton Undergraduate E-Club, Delta Sigma Pi, and Dining Philosophers, will also hold events at the University of Pennsylvania throughout the day on Oct. 7.

The RECESS networking fair, dubbed “The Playground,” will feature opportunities for students to meet representatives from start-ups such as Venmo and uprospie as well as companies such as L’Oreal Paris. Professional speakers will also be present for “Office Hours,” including Shara Senderoff, Co-Founder of Career Sushi, Callan Green, Director of Social Media of L’Oreal Paris, Katy Bellotte, digital influencer, and there will be a headlining fireside chat with Evan Stites-Clayton, Co-Founder of Teespring. Selected Penn student entrepreneurs will also be pitching their companies at the end of the day for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles to meet industry giants and Venture Capitalists.

While this is the first time RECESS will be coming to Penn’s campus, the teams who won "The Pitch" competition from other schools last semester have raised over $50 million in VC funding to date, describes Sebastian Rollen, President of Delta Sigma Pi at Penn.

“Both the speaker and pitch events will be really interesting,” Rollen said. “There are great prizes; the competition is essentially a kick-starter to take your idea and make it a reality and provides a chance for winners to actually go out and meet investors.”

Staying true to the work hard, play hard philosophy, the RECESS festival is rounded out by a concert featuring Adventure Club, which is currently on its “When Darkness Falls” tour after coming off of a main stage performance at this year’s Electric Zoo Festival. The duo recently released their latest track, a collaboration with DallasK, “Crash 2.0,” which marked their first original music release since last fall’s “Fade” featuring Zak Waters. They also released a mix in honor of their Electric Zoo appearance, Superheroes Anonymous Vol. 7: Road To Electric Zoo, in late August.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
