The Pros And Cons Of Being The Baby

Like most things in life, there is a little good and a little bad in every situation. One of these situations is being the youngest member of your family. I grew up with two lovely older sisters who were some of the best role models a girl could ask for. However, just because I can say that now does not mean that I didn't complain about it a lot growing up. Here are some of the things I loved and didn't love, about being the baby of my family.

You always had to share a room.

There are three of us and two rooms. Guess who's gonna get stuck with a roommate no matter what? Ding, ding - the youngest child. Growing up, both of my older sisters got a shot at their own room when the three of us were living under the same roof. Shout-out to bunk beds.

Everyone moves out first.

On the bright side, I'm the last person to move out. So now I'm the only kid living in the house. I not only have my own bedroom, but I get the house to myself a good amount of the time.

Never had a babysitter you didn't know.

A lot of people went through, various random teenagers, babysitting through the years. For me, it was always one of my sisters. They probably hated this, but hey, they left me alone for the most part. At least I didn't have a stranger in my home.

"When are you going to get married?"

Having two older siblings means they are both married with kids by the time I hit college. Naturally, there's always someone who brings up the fact that I'm currently single and wedding bells are far from showing up anytime soon. Come on, guys. I'm 19; cut me some slack. I'm on my own time.

You're pretty good at childcare.

When I do settle down with a family of my own, I know exactly how to handle kids. I have my nieces and nephews to thank for that. My older sisters and their husbands are pretty good role models when it comes to marriage and parenting. I know they are going to all grow up to be some pretty great people. This sets a great example for me and I'm learning every day. Diapers? I got it. Holding babies? I probably deserve a medal by now. Especially, for the ones who choose to throw up on me almost 75 percent of the time. I'm talking to you, little Eva.

There's no space for you at the dinner table.

With our big family, we always have dinners together at my parents' house. There is limited room at the dinner table so you can imagine who always has to take a seat elsewhere. The bar is only a few feet away, but still.

While there are many upsides and downsides to being the youngest child, I wouldn't trade it for the world. Here's to being the runt of the litter!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
