I somehow seem to end up on the couch or in my bed watching Food Network shows and I am just not sure why. Well.... I know why....
It had to have started years before Netflix and On-Demand was a thing because I distinctively remember staying up late to watch Cupcake Wars or Cake Wars. The battle series are my favorite because the creations these bakers can come up with in 2 or 3 hours blows my ever- living mind.
More recently I've discovered the "edible" corner of Netflix. Someone just decided to throw half of the Food Network on the application and I will be forever grateful. But can we just stop and talk about the Worst Cooks in America? This has to be my all-time favorite just because of the way the coaches go about training these people how to cook like life-long chefs (PUH-lease, we are talking about people who think vanilla goes good with fried chicken). I am patiently waiting for the day when the first 6 seasons get added on so that I do have to keep re-watching the three already on there.
Kid's Baking and Cooking is another one that can sweep the life from under me. Like, what is better than watching people younger than you make something better than you. Nothing, that's what! Sure if I put some effort behind what I do in the kitchen might make it closer to those little baking machines, but not by a long shot! If it were me getting kicked off the show because I under cooked some shrimp I would not be as put together as they are.
You learn a lot from these show just by watching them. As it turns out i have been saying the names of eight different cheeses wrong (My mom won't know its not actually pronounced CONE-GEE-TA (cojita) there's actually not an "N" in the word....Go figure...).
There's only one huge down side to watching these show.... OTHER THEN NOT BEING ABLE TO COOK, THANK YOU.... I get real hungry watching someone whip up some potatoes. When it's 3 am and and you don't really realize your hungry, sometime you get offended when the chefs don't share with you.
Yes, I know they're on TV.
I promise, I am not as crazy as I sound. And if I do sound crazy, it's because you don't know what I am talking about.
In that case, if one day you find yourself with nothing to watch on Netflix, turn on a competition show from the food channel and then come talk to me.
Catch ya on the flip side!
