Netflix is kicking ass right now, there is no other way to put that statement. Netflix original Orange is the New Black was nominated for a bunch of Emmy's this year and started a string of most watched originals coming straight from the top movie streaming service out there. Now, Netflix has bought the rights to a reboot of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events novels (which will hopefully be about a hundred times better than the flop of a film) and an even more exciting reboot of everyone's favorite 90s show, Full House! Fuller House is currently filming and with the many photos the cast has been posting around social media, I am getting excited to relive my childhood.
However, there are a few reservations I have about the reboot of one of my favorite childhood shows.
First of all, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen still have not agreed to join the cast. What the hell is that going to be like without Michelle?! I'm sure they will spin this easily, she's in college or something like that which will also enable a guest appearance by at least one of the twins. But I swear, if the reboot does not include at least one You got it, dude, I'm out.
Second, I'm sorry but shows today are not what they were back in the day. This reboot is not going to have the same old school film feel that reruns of Full House still have. The show is going to look new and I just... I don't know how to feel about that.
Third, I am going to end up watching the first season in a day, two tops. One thing I hate about the Netflix original shows is that is just encourages binge watching. I have never watched a straight season of Full House, not to my knowledge at least. I have seen random episodes here and there throughout my childhood and I kind of love that. My Fuller House binge watching week is going to completely change the way I see Full House and then I am going to have to get my hands on DVD copies of Full House just so that I can watch it from start to finish.
Fourth, there is no way they are all living in that house anymore and this... this is the saddest thing of all.
It's not all bad however. I am so excited to see the storyline the writes have given to adult Stephanie and DJ. It was just announced that Steve is coming back; does this mean DJ and Steve are married? Do they have kids? What is Stephanie doing? Is she married? And what about Danny? Has he managed to find another wife? And Joey!? Is he still as playful as ever, does he still live in Danny's basement?
Alright, now I am excited all over again. Please excuse me while I go read every article written about the Netflix reboot.
