a compilation of experiences and viewpoints geared toward providing background on my role in Odyssey and my content

ODYSSEY

After the 2016 Presidential Election, I attended a few Anti-Trump Rallies to support the cause, as well as to gain further insight into other's reasons for their support. I made a video of one of the rallies I attended, and a few days later one of the editors from Odyssey reached out to me via social media asking me to join their community. Making videos has always been a hobby of mine, but I was eager to start taking my creations more seriously. I am now a creator at Odyssey and am excited to see where this path will lead me.

TRAVEL

In tangent to being a creator at Odyssey, I also work as a flight attendant for a United States airline. Being able to travel so much has allowed me to observe geographically unique trends culturally, meteorically, and much more. Utilizing Odyssey as well as my airline, I seek to isolate those trends to share them with my viewers.

LGBTQ+

The LGBTQ+ community has always been intensely scrutinized. Being that I represent not only the T (transgender) but also the L (lesbian) in the acronym, society's unacceptance of the community has had a great impact on my life. Utilizing videos, articles, and other mediums I will strive to undermine the countless prejudices surrounding the community.

POLITICS

The United States of America has always had a large impact on the world since its succession from Great Britain in 1776. Since the election of Donald Trump in 2016, I have become increasingly more invested in the state of the nation, its affairs, and its citizens. With the political transition, a vast majority of American's are being subjugated to the jeopardization of many of their civil liberties. Realistically speaking it can be difficult to find media sources that will provide viewers with factual information, therefore I will continuously try to incorporate factual information from reputable sources in my content.

MUSIC

Music has been important to me ever since my mother started teaching me how to play the flute at three years old. When I was able to, I took up vocal performance, and have sung in various ensembles and groups til this day. In my mid-teens, I began teaching myself how to play piano and acoustic guitar. Later on, I started arranging some original pieces and performing them locally. Finally after becoming a flight attendant I took up violin because of its portable size. Music continues to be important to me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
