Being the season for all of the new faces of confused freshmen in the process of transitioning from high school to college, it always makes me question: what did high school really teach me? And even more, did it teach me anything at all? Because the truth is, we will forget the Pythagorean Theorem. We will forget the 106 bones of the body and the date Napoleon was exiled. But we're never going to forget the lessons that prepared us for life. And for that I am eternally grateful.

4. Not all friends are forever, but memories are.
5. Sometimes you get everything you want in life, and realize that it’s not enough.
6. A lot of things are okay: it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to get in trouble, it’s okay to fail a test, it’s okay to do your homework the period before it’s due. But it’s not okay to hurt people.
7. Boys will break your heart and friends will break your heart, but the world won’t stop for your grief.
8. You’re going to talk about people behind their backs, and you’re going to hate yourself for it later.
9. There’s a fine line between taking the high road and being a doormat. Meaning, sometimes you have to stand up for yourself, and sometimes you have to take it. But you always have to stand up for other people.
