You’ve probably heard the saying “the early bird gets the worm”, but is waking up earlier really worth it? I have learned from experience that getting your day started earlier can be life-changing. Waking up and having a nice morning is essential to living a happy and healthy lifestyle. Becoming a morning person has helped me completely reshape my life and it's not hard to do! Here are some perks of being an early riser (as told by the cast of "Sex and the City"):

1. You'll have more energy throughout the day

Hitting the snooze button may seem like a good idea at the time, but sleeping until noon will actually make you feel more tired and sluggish. Getting out of bed earlier gives your body the time it needs to actually wake up for the day.

2. You will be more productive at school/work

When you start waking up earlier you have time to mentally prepare for what you have to do that day which will lead to you being more productive. You will also have more mental clarity if you wake up early.

3. You'll be less stressed

If you get up earlier you can get whatever you need to do done for the day and you won't have to stress about it. You also have time to figure out what you have to do for the day, so you won't have to stress over forgetting things.

4. You'll be more likely to eat healthy

Getting up earlier allows you time to eat breakfast and plan out your meals for the day. If you wake up late you're more likely to eat fast food because you're in a rush. Eating breakfast will also prevent you from overeating later in the day.

5. You'd have more time to workout

If you wake up early, you can get up and get your workout out of the way before you even start your day. The gym is also less crowded in the morning so you won't have to wait for equipment or worry about not finding a parking space.

5. You can establish a daily routine

Waking up at the same time every morning sets you on track to make a daily routine for yourself. Planning out your day helps you stay organized and reduces stress.

6. You won't look like a hot mess all the time

While you may be able to get away with going to class in sweats now, this wont be acceptable when you have a real job after college. When you take the time to actually get ready and look nice you feel a lot more confident and put together.

7. You can actually relax in the evening

If you get everything out of the way earlier in the day you can sit back and relax in the evening. Waking up early gives you more time to do whatever you need to do so you don't have to stress about it at night.

9. You'll have time to do things you actually enjoy

When you manage your time efficiently and don't spend half the day sleeping, you have more free time to do whatever it is you enjoy.

8. You'll be happier!

Because you'll have more energy and wont be as stressed you're more likely to be in a happy, positive mood. No one wants to be around someone who is cranky and negative all the time, so wake up and enjoy your day!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
