Sometimes it's just better to avoid conflict than join in.

Hooray! Thanksgiving is here! We are all so excited to go home and see our families that we forget that we also have to see our conservative extended family. You love your family no matter what their opinions are, but you are seriously dreading talking to them especially after the election. You don't want to fight with your extended family because you don't see them often, it would just make the day worse, and you aren't going to change their mind.

Maybe you want to argue and that's fine, go you, but some just like to avoid it to make the holidays go smoother. There might be a better way to handle situations like this, but if you aren't into conflict avoiding the problem sounds better than this article is for you.

So, these are my suggestions to avoid conflict with your conservative family at Thanksgiving dinner:

1. Just ignore them.

This may seem like the most obvious solution, but it's actually really hard to hold your tongue when you know Uncle Billy is wrong.

2. Eat at the kids table.

It is honestly better to hear children arguing about a blue fork than listen to adults make insulting remarks towards people.

3. Leave the room.

Go to the bathroom or go get more food if you can't handle the conversation (this is what I do).

4. Bring headphones.

Music always makes everything better, so do not forget those headphones and phone charger because they are life savers.

5. Bring up sports.

If you feel the conversation heading to a certain painful topic, bring up a football or basketball game.

6. Text the only family member in the room that you know is suffering with you.

It's very normal to want to vent, especially someone that is going through the same thing as you, so text whoever it is so that y'all can complain together.

7. Suggest that everyone plays a game.

Take the conversation from controversial topics and play a card game so that you can actually have a good time instead of sitting their brewing with no outlet.

8. Tweet it out.

Like that one other family member, there are others out there feeling your pain on that day - we can all relate.

9. Bring up Christmas shopping.

Black Friday sales are a great conversation changer especially since they are earlier this year.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
