These days, it seems like everyone has a Facebook account. If you scroll through your news feed on a regular basis, you will begin to notice a trend in the content that your mutual friends share on their timeline. Here are some of the categories that you may find.

1. The Attention Seeker

She posts Myspace style selfies every single day, never failing to include song lyrics from her favorite country singer. Her vague status updates and long rants make us question why we accepted her friend request in the first place. Someone should tell her that Facebook is not a diary.

2. The Keyboard Warrior/Politician

This guy probably never graduated high school. He complains about the government and sits around in his parent’s basement playing video games. He was the funny guy back in high school, but honestly he didn’t care about being educated before opening his mouth.

3. The Freshman

This girl loves everything, and her constant status updates will never let you forget it. From becoming instant bff's with her roomie, to falling in love with her sorority and claiming that her relationship with her big is an actual match made in heaven. She posts a selfie at every event, philanthropy, gameday, etc. Just in case you don’t know enough about her life, she posts daily status updates with inspirational quotes.

4. The Comedian

We can always count on this guy to share the best memes and funny videos. His nickname is “Meme King.” He will post an embarrassing middle school photo on your Facebook page for your birthday. He posts videos of himself pranking his friends and family. It’s a great comedic relief between the news posts and cooking videos.

5. The MIA Friend

They have an account. They’re being tagged in old photos, but they haven’t updated their profile picture since getting senior portraits taken back in high school. Ever since they moved away to college, you can’t help but wonder what happened to them.

6. The Brag

She starts every single post with, “I am excited to announce.” You can always count on her to post her final grades every single term. Somehow she’s had four internships in less than four years. She takes selfies at community service events to prove how great she is. We don’t really know why she’s trying so hard to create this perfect online persona.

7. The Traveler

This guy never goes anywhere without his passport. Whether it’s a study abroad semester or a spontaneous winter break getaway, this guy is sure to have some interesting stories. He’s backpacked through Europe and gone skydiving in Dubai. It’s easy to get jealous of this guy’s continuous adventures. But we secretly love looking through his travel photos.

8. The Crazy Girlfriend

Her profile picture and cover photo are with her boyfriend. Her status updates include bragging about what her boyfriend bought her and melodramatic posts about being away for more than two days at a time. She acts like she’s already married to this poor dude.

At times, we’ve shared qualities with each one of these people. The Important thing to remember is that people choose to post certain content for a reason. Also, its important to remember that Facebook does not necessarily describe a person. Everyone has interesting social media habits, so sit back and scroll.
