I’ve always thought that in general I’m a pretty busy person. I have an addiction to my planner and laptop; I never go anywhere without them. I get stressed when I have multiple exams or projects going on in the same relative time frame. I’m a student, a friend, a daughter, a sorority sister, a leader, a worker, etc. I realize that I’m not the only one who is all of those things plus some, but truth be told, I really don’t have any time. There’s really no such thing as “free time” and if you happen to have some, I’d really like it if you shared your secret with me. But hey, maybe you’re a really busy person too, and here’s how you know.

  1. There’s no such thing as day and night. You have 24 hours to get everything done; mission all-nighter accepted.
  2. A two-hour nap at 3:00 a.m. is considered good sleep for you. Due to this lack of sleep, you are permanently exhausted.
  3. Coffee is considered unlimited in your mind. Without coffee, you absolutely do not function. (My Starbucks gold stars number is actually obnoxious).
  4. Hanging out with friends comes in two ways: 1.) They plan it with you at least 30 days in advance, or 2.) it’s completely spontaneous in the current moment when you realize you have about 10 minutes to grab a chocolate milkshake from Chick-Fil-A.
  5. You are completely unaware of the content in your favorite television shows contemporarily because you don’t have time to watch them. I’m currently a season behind on Pretty Little Liars, Scream, Criminal Minds, and the only thing I know about The Walking Dead thus far is that Glenn died and my heart will never be the same.
  6. The amount of alarms on your phone is absolutely appalling and necessary all at the same time. Does anyone have 3 hours’ worth of alarms that go off every 5 minutes? Me too.
  7. Multi-tasking isn’t just a skill at this point. It is a lifestyle – the only way to live.
  8. You’re so involved that you’re basically the glue that holds everything together. You’re probably the mom or dad of your friend group, and you most likely feel responsible for anything and everything that goes wrong in your personal life.
  9. Since you are going to back to back events, you can have ten different outfits in one day - sweats to scrubs to a dress to jeans to athletic shorts and back to a dress in 12 hours is a very real thing.

Though these things are very true to my life and others, at the end of the day, regardless what time that is for you, you’re never that busy. You still prioritize and make time to make sure you don’t lose your sanity. Movie nights with extra buttered popcorn does the trick for me, and laughing with friends will never ever get old. I’m a very busy person, who honestly wishes that there were more than 24 hours in a single day, but hey - at least I’m not bored.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
