9 Thoughts You Have While Walking To Class

When you are walking to class, your mind is probably going to a million different places. Personally, I know I have so many thoughts going through my head, so here are some of the thoughts I have while I am walking to class.

1. "Why is east so far away from everything?"

Being a freshman, every time I wanna go somewhere that is outside of east residence halls, I dread it. Even if something seems close like the creamery, it's far, trust me.

2. "Wow, it is way colder than I thought... oh well."

The weather here in state college is so weird. One day it is 30 and snowing and the next day it is 55 and beautiful. So, it is not uncommon to walk outside and realize that you are defiantly not dressed properly. However, when you have somewhere to be, you just have to accept it and keep going.

3. "Ok so I have 15 minutes to get to my class that is 12 minutes away... better pick up the pace."

I am from New York and since going to a school in Pennsylvania, I have noticed that I walk very fast. Yet, that doesn't stop me from going even faster when I don't think I am going to make it to class.

4. " Why didn't I take the bus?"

There is always that moment of weakness when you are walking and start questioning why you are killing yourself when you could have taken the bus. By the time you realize this, it's already too late to get on the bus.

5. "I wonder if people can see me looking at them through my sunglasses."

When you are walking to class, no doubt, you are people watching. But this can be very awkward. Wearing sunglasses can help, but there is always that moment when you wonder if people can see your eyes through your sunglasses.

6. "Oh no, they can definitely tell I was looking ok, act cool."

At this point, you might as well take a quick moment to panic and just keep going. But honestly, you probably won’t ever see that person again so who cares.

7. "I really like her outfit."

It is so hard to be motivated to actually look good for class, so, when you see someone that is, it makes you question everything about how you look.

8. "What should I eat after class?"

I don't know about you, but a constant thought throughout my day is what my next meal is going to be and when. Walking to class is a great way to figure that out. You would be surprised how much you actually have to plan when to eat, because of how busy you are.

9. "I have so much to do after class..."

In college, you are never really in the present. You are constantly thinking and planning the rest of your day and maybe even the rest of your week. So, during that walk to class, I can almost guarantee that you are thinking about something other than the class you are on your way to.

Everything in college is fast paced and needs to be planned out to the minute. Those walks to class when you have nothing else to do is a great time to be planning or if you are like me, to just let your mind wander and think about whatever is going on infront of you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
