9 Things All Introverts Can Relate To

9 Things All Introverts Can Relate To
A Feminine Tomboy

1. You secretly crave isolation

Unlike your extroverted friends, you want to be alone. You constantly wonder how others can always be around other people 24/7. You're energized by isolation and find yourself drained in social settings.

2. You're a people watcher

As an introvert, you know everything that is going on around you. You don't feel the need to be in the spotlight, so you take a step back and let other's fill that role. You adore little nooks, window seats, and any place you can go to spy on others unnoticed. As a child, you may have even found yourself dreaming of whimsical hideaways, such as secret tunnels and doors hidden behind bookcases.

3. You plan out your next nap

After a long day of work or class, your body seems to be gravitationally pulled to your bed. When you are thrown into social settings, your energy is drained far more quickly than that of an extravert.

4. Your best friend is yourself

You know yourself better than anyone else does. As an introvert, you spend the majority of your time thinking and contemplating life. You are incredibly in-touch with your feelings, but you don't pour those thoughts out to just anyone.

5. You can pretend to be an extravert

As a gifted people watcher, you know exactly how extraverts act. When the time comes for you to take a leadership role or be extremely extraverted, you can do so without fault. However, when all is said and done, you find yourself exhausted and look forward to an isolated recharge in the near future.

6. You would rather cuddle up on the couch and read a book than go to a social event

Yeah, going to a party sounds fun, but honestly, you'd rather be at home. The mere thought of cramming yourself into a loud, crowded room with 100 of your closest friends, is exhausting.

7. You find yourself better at writing, than actually partaking in conversation

Instead of venting to a friend, you pick up a pen and paper and let your emotions pour onto the page. Your words are always formatted perfectly when written, but you often stumble over words in real conversations. In order to let other people know your thoughts, you would prefer to write them a letter, rather than hashing it out in person.

8. That being said, you avoid situations where an abundance of conversations may arise

The grocery store is your worst nightmare. You pre-plan a path to guide you through the store as quickly and conversation-less as possible. You find yourself averting eye contact with others and pray that they don't see you running down the next isle. You may even opt to skip the grocery store in entirety, for, no matter what, you will see everyone you know there.

9. You only have like four friends

And you like it that way! You value every friendship you have and prefer to have four quality friends, rather than 20 acquaintances.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
