It is by far the most incredible series, and J.K. is undoubtedly the most amazing author.

What is a fandom? Basically for a book nerd like me, it is the best thing to be a part of. It is the fans of a particular person, team, fictional series, etc., regarded collectively as a community or subculture. A subculture, thats it, an entire culture centered around the love of something! In my case thats Harry Potter! (THE BOOKS!!) Having read the series many times from start to finish I feel like I am definitely part of this fandom! Now that social media is a huge thing, especially with my generation (which also happens to be The Harry Potter generation) there are so many ways to connect to the rest of the fandom, collaborate ideas and have all your questions answered, or make you question so much more. Tumbler, Twitter, Facebook and every other social media platform has a place for Harry Potter. So here is a small contribution to the Harry Potter fandom from me. A list of facts that made me realize how freaking awesome Harry Potter is and how amazingly talented JK Rowling really is.

1. J.K.'s ability to blow your mind

After the Battle over Little Whinging, 13 people gathered at the Burrow to mourn the loss of Alastor Moody, Remus Lupin is the first to rise to offer to look for the body. Lupin was later killed by Dolohov at the Battle of Hogwarts. This makes Trelawney's prediction come true. "When 13 dine together the first to rise will be the first to die".

2. J.K. pulling inspiration from other favorite subjects aka Greek Mythology

In the first book we find out quickly that Hagrid is definitely a fan of the dangerous creatures. It comes as no surprise that "fluffy" is one of his pets. While Hagrid is being grilled by Harry, Ron and Hermoine, Hagrid brags about how he acquired the guard-dog from a “Greek chappie” he met in the pub. It then becomes clear that Fluffy is intended to be Cerberus of Greek Mythology – the three headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld. J.K. at it again with the mind blowing.

3. Hidden references in their names

This one is a bit lengthy so prepare to be blown away again. Okay so first we have Minerva Mcgonagall, Minerva was the roman goddess of wisdom. Who was the smartest teacher at Hogwarts? Yeah it was Mcgonagall. Also Minerva was the goddess of war and the picture above explains that pretty well. Then we have Argus Filch, Argus another character from greek mythology, he had eyes all over his body and could see all. Doesn't that explain the sneaky Filch who know everything going on around the castle? Another easy one Xenophillius Lovegood, Luna's father and the editor of the Quibbler (the magical tabloid about conspiracy theories and imaginary creatures) "xenophillia" means love or affection for alien things, basically everything Mr Lovegood loves is strange and alien. These last two are my favorite, first we have Nymphadora, Nymphs are mythical female spirits in nature that can change their form, just like Tonks! Lastly, with my absolute favorite, Remus Lupin, Lupus is the Latin derivative for wolf, Canis Lupus is the scientific name for wolf. Remus was the twin brother of Romulus in Roman Mythology. The king throws the twins in a river a wolf finds them and raises them, yes a wolf. This one is awesome because Remus Lupin was not bitten by the Fenrir Greyback the Werwolf until he was nearly 5 years old. J.K., how did you get his parents to name him after something he would eventually be? Oh right you are awesome thats how. Just the fact that so much effort went into naming every single character quadruples my respect for J.K.

4. The Fandom

The fandom's opinions vary of course but on this one subject for sure is a widespread agreement of hatred. Having places like tumbler make it possible for us to view and comment back and forth on our favorite subject. I've learned a lot of things from social media on Harry Potter, maybe almost as much as I've learned from reading the books.

5. Fan theories

One fan decided to break everyone's heart in a single post. They go into George's life after Fred. He dies his hair some outrageous color and right as Molly is about to lose her mind, she hears him mumble " every time I look in the mirror I see him." Okay crazy fan, now I'm crying.

6. These three

These three are my best friends. I feel like I can open a book and be right there hanging out with them.

7. This place

Every time I pick up a book I am transported back to King's Cross Station and there I am about to run head first into a brick wall. Hogwarts will always be my second home.

8. This Man

Snape, the hated potions master. Snape, the one who saved Harry during his first quidditch match. Snape, the death eater. Snape, Dumbledore's murderer. Snape, The Headmaster. Snape, the man who bottled it all up the whole time. Snape, the man who loved Lily so much. Snape, the most loyal wizard.

9. This Woman

J.K. Rowling, the most talented author of our time. She puts her whole self into the books. This woman gave me my friends and gave me a second home. I will be forever grateful for this woman.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
