With Thanksgiving just passing, I sat down and actually thought about what I'm thankful for. There are a lot of things, so here we go:
1. My Family
For dessert on turkey day I went to my cousin's house and soon after, a Nerf fight ensued between two of my cousins — both in their twenties/thirties, as their children watched and then picked sides. The whole scene just reminded me of how lucky I am to have a family as crazy as me.
2. My Friends
I'm thankful for my friends both at home and at college. I am thankful for the memories we have shared and the crazy times we continue to have together, whether we just watch movies or go on a secret spy mission.
3. My Jobs
In the past I haven't had the best jobs, but I've been able to gain crucial experience and build up my resume, and for that, I am thankful. Because of those jobs I was able to secure a terrific internship in the field I plan to go into after graduation.
4. My Grades
I'm able to procrastinate on almost everything I do and still end up with grades that I am proud of, which shocks me but also makes me eternally grateful.
5. My High School
Every break from college I'm able to go back there and be welcomed with open arms (although they all know I hate hugs) by my former teachers and other staff members. Having them genuinely take an interest in how I am always puts a smile on my face. And most importantly, I love still being able to catch up with my favorite people.
6. My College
I'm still thankful everyday that I'm able to attend a college of my choice. And to make it even better, I am happier at Ithaca then I could ever imagine myself being anywhere else.
7. The People I've Met
Through my education and jobs I have met so many endlessly fascinating people. Building personal connections with some of those I've met has added so much joy to my life.
8. Music
Music is one of the biggest comforts in my life. Being able to play a song and sing the words that match exactly how I feel makes me remember that I'm not alone, even when I feel lonely. Specifically, I'm thankful I know who The Beatles, The Front Bottoms, and Twenty One Pilots are.
9. My Health
I have had few health issues in my life, and I can't express how thankful I am for that. To be able to live without any serious daily or reoccurring medical conditions is a blessing.
Here's the quick version of why I'm thankful today and every day. I can go on about any one of these amazing topics for hours so if you need or want to know more, just ask and I'll be sure to talk your ear off.
