There are a lot of crappy movies out there, so here is a list of ones that everyone should see. Warning: Spoilers.
Drama
The Green Mile
The Green Mile may have one of the saddest movie deaths of all time, but it is one of the best movies out there. Everyone should see this drama because it shows the story of a miracle. This movie is fairly sad, but it leaves the viewer warm-hearted and with goosebumps.
12 Angry Men
This one is an oldie but a goody. Shot almost completely in a court room, 12 Angry Men is a movie about 12 jury members who argue over a court case while a man’s life hangs in the balance. A great movie for those who just want to watch a classic. This movie is dramatic, and teaches a lesson about hope and differences between people.
Comedy
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
“Bueller. Bueller. Bueller.” If you ever have a monotone teachers, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is the first thing you think of. This movie is the definition of a feel-good movie. Who doesn’t dream of ditching school on a beautiful day to explore Chicago? Ferris Bueller does exactly that along with his friend Cameron and girlfriend, Sloane. They do everything from going to a baseball game to stealing a car while they try to avoid getting their day ruined by their school’s unlucky principal.
White Chicks
Two black men dressed up as spoiled white chicks: not your typical movie, but still one of the greats that everyone should see. White Chicks will have you laughing the whole movie and even afterwards every time you hear “A Thousand Miles” on the radio. Nothing can put you in a good mood like two detectives trying to pass as snobby, rich girls while defeating bad guys all at the same time.
Romantic
The Wedding Singer
This is one of those quirky love stories that never gets old. After two coworkers (Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore) get out of some pretty bad relationships, they pretty much live happily ever after. Not only does The Wedding Singer make you laugh, it makes you wish that Adam Sandler would teach your loved one how to write music.
50 First Dates
Just another classic with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. This is one of those movies that will make you laugh and cry. If you’re looking for a movie with true love, this is it. Adam Sandler’s character continuously takes care of Drew Barrymore’s character, even though she forgets everything she knows the next day. Once you see this movie, “Wouldn’t it be nice” might be your favorite song.
Inspiration
Lee Daniels the Butler
This drama shows the hardships of the black community from the 1920’s to the civil rights era. Lee Daniels went through Hell, but grew as a character throughout the movie. This movie inspires viewers to never give up because life gets better. It may be a sadder movie than some, but Lee Daniels the Butler is a must see drama.
Forrest Gump
How many people have yelled “Run Forrest run?” Pretty much everyone has. Forrest Gump is one of the most touching movies of all time. Forrest faces adversity his whole life but still manages to be a happy, light-hearted character. This movie is a must see because it inspires those who feel down to keep going—to keep running.
Miracle
What makes Miracle a must-see is its non-fiction aspect. We all know of the story of the amateur USA ice hockey team thrown together to beat the famous, extremely talented Soviet Union team during the 1980 Olympics. The movie shows what went on behind the scenes for the gold medal team. This movie is easily one of the most empowering, inspiring movies anyone will ever see. Nobody expected a bunch of college hockey players to defeat a team with such a high skill level.
