Presidential candidate Donald Trump has gotten a lot of heat lately for his comments about the country to our south and the many people who choose to come to America from Mexico. But he can't be that bad, right? Right?
1. When he basically blamed them for every problem that exists:
“The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
2. When he tried to defend those comments :
"Well if you look at the statistics of people coming, you look at the statistics on rape, on crime, on everything coming in illegally into this country it's mind-boggling!"
3.
When he came up with a medieval way of keeping them out:
“I will build a great, great wall on our southern border and I will make Mexico pay for that wall.”
4.
When he congratulated the Mexican
Birdman
director Alejandro González Iñárritu
on his Oscar win:
“Well it was a great night for Mexico, as usual in this country… It was a great night… for Mexico. This guy kept getting up and up and up. I said, you know, what’s he doing? He’s walking away with all the gold.”
5.
When he blamed them for America's economic problems
:
"When do we beat Mexico at the border? They are laughing at us at our stupidity. And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, Believe me, but they are killing us economically."
6.
When he continued to call them "rapists
:"
"Well, somebody's doing the raping, Don! I mean somebody's doing it! Who's doing the raping? Who's doing the raping?"
7.
When he tried to justify it because he "loves" the people
:
"I love the Mexican people, but Mexico is not our friend. They're killing us at the border and they're killing us on jobs and trade. FIGHT! "
8. And,
finally
:
"I'm running for president."
