With finals week upon us and the stress that comes with it bogging us down, the end of the semester can't come fast enough. With all that built-up stress from finals—papers, projects, or otherwise—it's not hard to get a tad over dramatic. Here are some thoughts everyone has during this time and a much more rational conclusion to calm us all down.
- “I literally knew about this assignment all year—why do I hate myself?”
- Friday: “There is nothing in this world that will keep me from spending all of tomorrow at the library!” Saturday: *accidentally slept until 2 p.m. and still can't get out of bed*
- “Why do my professors hate me? This final feels like a personal attack.”
- *Walking past anyone at all* “Even you are probably more prepared for this and you aren’t even in my class, or my major.”
- “OK, I have five minutes until I have to leave for this exam, the perfect amount of time for crying.”
- “Everything is going to be fine. I studied for plenty of time and I am not, contrary to popular belief, living in an eternal hellscape.”
- After a day at the library: “I am living in an eternal hellscape.”
- “Haha, I don’t even care anymore! Everything will be fine!” *cries*
Although your thoughts might be against you, chances are all those hours you spent studying are actually going to pay off and your finals won’t actually be that bad. Your professor might even give you all donuts afterward, if you’re lucky. So if being a little dramatic helps you cope with the stress, don’t hold back, but remember that everything will be just fine once it's all over.
