When you come to college there is a lot of pressure to find out where your life is going. Sometimes you don't have everything figured out and why should you? I became an "adult" a couple months, I just recently figured out that I had to separate my whites from my darks in the laundry, and now I need a life plan! Do I have goals for myself? Of course, but I can't say I'm completely sure where life is going to take me. Maybe I'm not ready for real life to start, I'm young there is still so much I want to do before I settle down in the real world. However, I'm beginning to realize it's okay not to have everything planned at this very moment because everything will fall into place. If you're figuring out what to do with your life and maybe stressing about it, relax. Here is a list of eight things to do while you figure it all out.
1. Learn as much as possible
Knowledge is power. The more you know, the more things you will be able to do with that knowledge. Plus, learning new things may open your eyes to something you didn't know you had an interest in. These interests can turn into passions that then became part of your life.
2. Step out of your comfort zone
Staying in your comfort zone will make your life redundant and quite frankly boring. Once you step out, you will never want to go back in. It brings out your adventurous side, something that is necessary when navigating through the journey of life. So take the leap of faith and do something you've never done. Go skydiving, learn to snowboard, go snorkeling. Be courageous.
3. Find something your passion about
Passion is a big aspect of settling down to do something for the rest of your life. If you're not passionate about your work, then there's no point in pursuing it. The driving force behind what you choose to do with your life should be passion. Easier said thann done, I know but trust me everyone is passionate about something.
4. Meet new people
There are billions of people in this world, all of whom are different. Meeting new people will not only help develop necessary social skills that will help you in the future, but these new people will help motivate you to do something great. Being around passionate and driven people will help you develop that drive also. So surround yourself with people who will lift you up, and if they start to drag you down be sure to cut them off sooner rather than later.
5. Travel
Traveling helps you branch out and see new things, that you wouldn't be able to see after you've established yourself. The time is now, don't waste it.
6. Fall in love
Fall in love with something. Find something you really love: a person, a hobby, an object, anything, and hold on to it.
7. Open your mind
If you keep an open mind, you will discover a lot. Things will surprise you, if you keep a close mind you might miss out on the opportunity to discover something you truly love.
8. Reflect on yourself
All of your decisions should be for you, reflect on if your proud of where you are in your life right now. It's important to satisfied with your accomplishments. When you make every decision about whether you will be happy or not, it will make it so much easier to figure out the hardest decisions that life throws your way.
It's okay to not know where you're going in life. The present is a gift, that's why it's called the present. Don't rush it, enjoy it!
