1. Planned Parenthood provides medically accurate information about sexual health online.
The Planned Parenthood website has a directory of sexual health information, including things like birth control, men's sexual health, STDs, and many more. This can all be accessed for free at this link.
2. Planned Parenthood provides birth control to women in remote states with little access to health centers.
Women in Alaska, Minnesota, and Washington state can have consultations via video chat and get birth control sent to them in the mail. This service can be accessed here.
3. Planned Parenthood gives parents tools to help them talk with their kids about puberty, sexuality, healthy relationships, etc.
(Click here to watch a fantastic video with more parents trying to explain sex to their children, I highly recommend it.)
Your parents are a lot less clueless than you think, but you never know what they are reading. Planned Parenthood provides accurate information and statistics for parents interested in and/or concerned about their children's sex lives. This information can be found here.
4. Planned Parenthood provides teenagers factual, unbiased information about sexual health and sexuality.
Information that you may have been too embarrassed to talk to your friends, family, or teachers about in high school is all given to you on this page. Some of the information about pregnancy, doctors appointments, relationships, STDs, etc. is still useful as a college student--this webpage is definitely worth checking out.
5. Planned Parenthood gives women sexual health exams.
A lot of people don't realize that Planned Parenthood is full of OBGYNs. Many people go to Planned Parenthood to get examined for cervical cancer and/or breast cancer. Other women's health exams performed there are things like routine Pap tests, pregnancy screenings, STD tests, etc. More information can be found here.
6. Planned Parenthood provides general health care, regardless of gender.
Yep, Planned Parenthood can act as your doctor. The doctors that work there are affordable, skilled, and able to perform the tests, so why would they not be able to also give you a flu shot, right? You can learn more about their general health services on this page.
7. Planned Parenthood gives men sexual health exams.
Planned Parenthood is a feminist organization, woohoo! This means that they serve men and women. Men can get testicular cancer screenings, erectile dysfunction services, or any other kind of sexual problem addressed and treated. There is more information about those kinds of services here.
8. Planned Parenthood has an array of pregnancy resources, including prenatal care.
That's right, Planned Parenthood provides every option when it comes to your body and your pregnancy. The organization stresses family planning, which means preventing unwanted pregnancy. Planned Parenthood's online pregnancy center has pages for those considering pregnancy, those who are pregnant, and those who are seeking prenatal care, are well as information about ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, infertility, how pregnancy looks week by week, and much more. The doctors at Planned Parenthood are trained to tell you about all of your options (and not all centers perform abortion services). If you have a pregnancy-related problem and need somewhere inexpensive to go, Planned Parenthood is a safe bet.
Planned Parenthood's 2013 - 2014 Annual Report:
Planned Parenthood does not sell baby parts. The videos have been debunked and are highly edited. Planned Parenthood uses tissue for medical research, which many medical providers do. If you have a problem with this type of medical research, you should be against the National Institute of Health, which spends millions of dollars on its research.
